3 POLICE OFFICIALS PROMOTED AS DIG

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government on Tuesday promoted three IPS officers to the rank of deputy inspector general of police (DIG). An official spokesman said Gursharan Singh Sandhu, a 2002-batch IPS officer and Kanwar Bahadur Singh (2002 batch) have been promoted as Deputy DIGs. The spokesman said Kaustubh Sharma, a 2001batch IPS officer, who opted to continue on the central deputation, is given pro forma promotion to the rank of DIG as per the provision of Indian Police Service Rules.
