PANCHKULA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday opposed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s application seeking permission to go abroad to promote his new film.

It questioned that if he has a backache, how he was shooting for the film and now going for film promotion.

Ram Rahim has sought permission to go to Dubai, Indonesia, Macau, Maldives, Malaysia, Japan, Australia and Europe from September 1 to September 20 for promotion of ‘MSG-The Warrior Lion Heart.’ He claimed that the movie is based on a message to stop using drugs and committing crime against children. He added that earlier too he had been allowed to go abroad twice for film promotion.

“The accused was not regularly appearing in the court despite of an undertaking been given by him at the time of grant of bail by the court. He is habitual of moving applications for exemption from personal appearance mostly on the ground of serious backache and being unable to move or being under the treatment of doctors. But in reality he is busy shooting new films. Serious action is required to be taken against him for making such false assertions,” CBI said.

“The accused is not entitled of any relief from the court as he has been guilty of producing false records before the court in the shape of fabricated medical records,” said CBI counsel HPS Verma.

CBI said that the court has got nothing to do with the alleged trend in the film industry about the cast of the film going abroad for promotion of film.

The order on Ram Rahim’s application will be pronounced on September 3.
