CASTRATION CASE: 7TH REPORT FILED

-

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana high court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to speed up the probe into an FIR in which Dera Sacha Sauda head, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was accused of forcible castration of 400 followers in 2000, and submit the final report in three months. CBI special prosecutor, Sukhdeep Singh Sandhu submitted the seventh report of agency in the 2000 castration case on Tuesday. After perusing the report, the high court bench of justice RK Jain granted three months’ time to the agency to prepare the final report by November 30, the next date of hearing. The HC had ordered CBI to probe into a 2012 petition filed by Hansraj Chauhan, who was once a dera follower and had submitted a list of 166 followers who were allegedly castrated at the dera promising that it would lead to “realisation of God.” The single-judge order has been challenged by Ram Rahim before the division bench, where proceedings are underway.
