AISSF JOINS HANDS WITH DAL KHALSA, TO STAY AWAY FROM POLLS
AMRITSAR: The All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) headed by Karnail Singh Peermohammad has resolved to work in coordination with the Dal Khalsa.
Dal Khalsa president Harpal Singh Cheema and Peermohammad announced the pact between both the hardliner groups at a press conference here on Wednesday.
Peermohammad said they have decided to hand over the reins of the AISSF to students by March 14, 2017, when a new organisational structure will come into place. “Till then, I will work as a caretaker head of the federation and join the Dal Khalsa on March 14,” he said.
“Both the organisations resolved not to participate in the assembly or parliamentary elections,” said Kanwar Pal Singh, a spokesperson of Dal Khalsa. However, he clarified that they will contest the SGPC elections.
Leaders of both the groups said they were making efforts to rope in Panj Pyaras sacked by the SGPC to ensure that proper procedure is followed in organising the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ slated for November 10. “We will only participate in the congregation if it is organised properly,” they said.
