Sultanpur Lodhi clash: Preacher held, magisterial inquiry ordered
SULTANPUR LODHI: Situation remained tense in Dalla village near here on Wednesday, a day after seven people sustained minor injuries in a clash between members of Sikh group Satkar Committee and Valmiki community. The clash occurred over the alleged use of derogatory words against Lord Valmiki by a gurdwara preacher.
The preacher, Manpreet Singh, was arrested on Wednesday after being booked under Section 295A (outraging religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code. Satkar Committee head Sukhjeet Singh Khosa, who, along with his unidentified supporters, had also been booked, was released on bail.
Deputy commissioner Jaskiran Singh ordered a magisterial inquiry, directing the Sultanpur Lodhi SDM to submit the probe report by Saturday. The DC said the situation was under control. SSP Rajinder Singh on Wednesday met members of both the communities.
SIT FORMED
A four-member special investigation team (SIT) led by SP Balvir Singh has been formed to probe the matter. “The SIT will find out who fuelled the clash. Action will be taken on the basis of findings of the inquiries by the SIT and magisterial probe report,” the SSP said.
