Status report on plea against Kejriwal filed

-

NEWDELHI: The Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Saturday filed its status report before a Delhi court in connection with its inquiry into a criminal complaint filed against chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, his brother-in-law Surender Kumar Bansal and a public servant over alleged irregularities in the granting of contracts for building roads and laying of sewer lines in Delhi.

The report said the enquiry was in progress into the allegations and sought time to conclude it. The matter is now scheduled for hearing on March 8.

The court had earlier directed the Delhi government’s Public Works Department (PWD) to preserve the records relating to award of contract to Bansal’s firm. The police report said during the course of inquiry, notices were served to Bansal and two others - Kamal Singh and Pawan Kumar - for want of information.

“After obtaining the reply from the concerned persons, the same will be analysed with the documents supplied by the PWD department,” said the report.

The plea was filed by a person associated with the NGO Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation. He alleged that documents showing purchase of material were “concocted and forged”, and a loss of over ₹ 10 crore had been caused to the exchequer.
