Punjab board exams: 135 centres declared sensitive, Ferozepur tops with 32

As many as 135 examinatio­n centres for the upcoming Class 10 and 12 examinatio­ns have been declared “sensitive” by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).

This year, 3.76 lakh students will sit for the Class 12 board exam while 4.12 lakh students will appear for the Class 10 exam. As many as 2,742 examinatio­n centres have been set up across the state.

At 32, Ferozepur district has the highest number of sensitive centres, followed by Rupnagar (18) and Mansa (15).

None of the centres has been declared sensitive in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, SAS Nagar, Moga, Sangrur, Nawanshahr, Fatehgarh Sahib and Faridkot districts.

The Class 12 and 10 examinatio­ns are to begin on February 28 and March 14, respective­ly.

Talking to HT, PSEB chairman Balbir Singh Dhol said: “Special arrangemen­ts will be made at these sensitive centres. The number of flying squads will be increased and observers will be deputed to check cheating and use of unfair means. The observers will also informed about their duty three hours before the exam begins.”

To help maintain law and order, the board has also requested deputy commission­ers and senior superinten­dents of police of all districts to depute police personnel near the centres.
