3 of family killed, 5 hurt in accident at Abohar

Three members of a family, including a couple, and an elderly woman, died on the spot while five others sustained injuries in an accident here on Sunday.

Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Malukpura village in Abohar, a subdivision of Fazilka district, along with his wife Simerpal Kaur and other family members, had gone to attend a wedding at Chak village in Raisingh Nagar in Rajasthan.

On Sunday, around 8am Gurpreet Singh, along with others, drove to reach Anoopgarh, but within next 15 minutes, the moment the car Gurpreet was driving reached near a petrol pump, located 3km from Raisingh Nagar on the Raisingh-Anoopgarh raod, it got involved in a collision with a bus coming from the opposite direction.

Gurpreet, Simerpal Kaur and another elderly woman of the family Saravjeet Kaur died on the spot while Kulwant Kaur, Lovepreet Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur, Jaspal Kaur and Naman Kaur suffered injuries and were later admitted to a hospital in Sriganganagar.

The car was so much damaged that all the victims were struck up badly in the car and locls have to put in a lot of effort to extract them from the car.

Bodies of the deceased were handed over to their family. On the basis a complaint by Sukhdeep Singh, brother of deceased Gurpeet, the driver of the bus was booked. Further probe was on.
