People getting social pension illegally under govt scanner

chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said the social welfare department has identified people taking pension illegally in the state.

The chief minister made the statement while speaking at a function to mark the birth anniversar­y of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in Sirsa.The CM also announced that sewage workers in the state will be given salary being paid to safai karamchari­s.

The state government has enhanced the minimum wages of sewage workers from Rs 5,900 to Rs 7,700 per month. The skilled employee’s wages in the state are Rs 10,180.

“The Old Age Samman allowance is being increased by Rs 200 every year. At present, Rs 1,600 per month is being given to senior citizens,” he said.

Khattar said that in view of the birth centenary year of Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya, the state government was working on the principle of ‘antyodaya’ to provide justice to the downtrodde­n and ensure their developmen­t.

various schemes had been launched for the overall developmen­t of students and youth of the state. “Free coaching is being provided by educationa­l institutes to students preparing for the Indian Administra­tive Service and Indian Police Service,” he added.

He said in view of the Swarna Jayanti celebratio­ns year of the state, various programmes are being organised to promote the ideology ‘Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek’. In this series, functions are being organised throughout the state to celebrate Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti from April 7 to 14.

He said a decision had been taken to celebrate the birth anniversar­ies of Sant Kabir, Maharshi Valmiki and Guru Ravidas at the state level every year to spread their ideologies.
