LEGAL SYSTEM BEING MISUSED TO TARGET OPPONENTS: CM

SHIMLA : Himachal chief minister Virbhadra Singh has said that the legal system has been hijacked and is being misused by the government to target political opponents.

Virbhadra said the Enforcement Directorate’s summons did not mean he was a convict. “I will face it as I have done nothing wrong,” he said.

He said the ruling BJP was speeding up the case against him because they know “I am a strong Congress leader”. “They are mistaken. This will boomerang. I will gain sympathy and people of Himachal know me better than anyone else,” Singh told reporters in Shimla.

The octogenarian chief minister said the case against him was fabricated and politically motivated. “The BJP government is intentionally raking up this case in the election year. Justice will prevail and I will win. If they manipulate in the court, I can’t say. I’m sorry that things have come to such a pass that legal system is being hijacked and misused to target political opponents,” he said.

Almost a week after his farmhouse was attached in New Delhi, Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday summoned Virbhadra in the money laundering case.

He has been asked to appear before the investigating officers on April 13 in Delhi.
