4 of family killed in J&K accident, 5 injured JAMMU

:Four people were killed and five others injured in a road mishap near Doda town in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.

All of them were from the same family.

The deceased have been identified as Khadim Hussain, 25 , Haji Ali, 62, Hashim Din, 55 and Aasiya Begum, 60.

Police said nine passengers who were on their way from Punjab to Gandoh, around 10km short of Doda town, met with an accident at around 7am at Khellani.

The vehicle in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell around 150 meters downhill on another portion of the road.

Immediatel­y after receiving the informatio­n, police and locals evacuated the passengers.

Deputy superinten­dent of police Doda, Iftikhar Ahmed said, “The driver lost control of the vehicle which led to the accident.”

He further added, “It appears that Liquat (the driver) might have fell asleep momentaril­y because he was driving since Thursday afternoon, through the night, from Hoshiarpur in Punjab.”

The family was retuning to their home in Chilly, Bhalesa after visiting Liquat, who was living in Hoshiarpur.

Three of the passengers died on the spot, and one succumbed while being shifted to the district hospital in Doda.

Liquat, who was critically injured, was referred to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, while rest are being treated in Doda.
