Haryana BJP eyes 2019 polls

Two-day state executive meeting of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) began at a private hotel in Karnal on Monday. Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, state BJP president Subhash Barala and other senior party leaders and cabinet minsiters attended the meeting. All 280 office-bearers of the party are participat­ing in it.

The leaders exhorted party workers to work hard for the Mission 2019 for the assembly and general elections, said sources. Earlier, briefing the party leaders, Barala asked them to work tirelessly to ensure benefits of welfare schemes started by the Centre and state government reach the last man in the queue.

Barala said total number of party members has increased to 31 lakh in the state and about 20,000 are active members.

The chief minister reached the venue in the evening and met senior party leaders over tea. He was scheduled to address the party workers and leaders later.

Almost all hotels and government guest houses in the city are booked as about 1,000 leaders of the ruling BJP are in Karnal for the meeting. Besides Barala, general secretarie­s of the party Suresh Bhatt, Vedpal, Sanjay Bhatia and Sandeep Joshi also addressed the gathering of party workers.
