RAJKOT: Gujarat Lions opener Ishan Kishan rued the rush of blood that led to his dismissal in the Super Over IPL 2017 defeat against Mumbai Indians.

Gujarat Lions defended a modest 153 and forced a thrilling tie after Ravindra Jadeja pulled off a final-ball run out as the Mumbai Indians’ last-wicket pair scampered for a winning single. Kisnot han said he should have thrown his wicket away.

“I should have stayed over there. I shouldn’t have gone for that big shot (which led to his dispa’s missal) as it was Bhajji (Harbhajan) last over. Instead, I should have waited for Krunal (Pandya) or someone else. If I had stayed in the middle and score more runs, we would have had total of 170 or 180.”

With Gujarat Lions defen ing only 153, nobody gave the a chance, but the 18-year-ol said team believed they coul do it.

“It was all about belief, a we believed our bowlers wi do it this time. Our fieldi unit did very well as well. I the previous matches yo must have seen we wer very good on the field,” sai the left-handed batsma from Jharkhand.

Kishan said the presence Mohammad Kaif has helped. “The way we practice our fielding, it’s the most important. It counted a lot.

So, we practice in the same way Kaif bhai used to. We have very good fielders in (Ravindra) Jadeja, Brendon McCullum, (Aaron) Finch and Suresh Raina and they are getting good support of youngsters as well,” he said.

I should have stayed over there. I shouldn’t have gone for that big shot as it was Bhajji pa’s last over. Instead, I should have waited for Krunal. If I had stayed in the middle we would have had a total of 170 or 180. ISHAN KISHAN, after getting out
