None of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders from Punjab will attend the political affairs committee (PAC), the highest decision-making body of the party, meeting scheduled for Tuesday in New Delhi.

State convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich, Lok Sabha MPs from Sangrur and Faridkot Bhagwant Mann and Sadhu Singh are the PAC members, and all three will not attend the meeting.

After state polls, this will be the first PAC meeting where issues concerning Punjab are expected to be discussed, especially when the AAP’s senior leadership is facing flak for party’s poor performance in the assembly polls. AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak, who were Punjab in-charge and observer, respectively, and were at the helm of affairs during the polls, resigned from their posts last week, taking responsibility for party’s poor show.

While Mann is abroad, Waraich said: “I will not attend the meeting as it is not Punjab specific.” Sadhu Singh said: “Neither am I invited nor I am going. In case they want my views, they can contact me over phone.” Party leaders say Sadhu Singh is a nonentity and he used to remain silent at the PAC meetings. “After Delhi, Punjab has the highest number of elected representative of AAP in Parliament and state assembly. State leaders should attend the PAC meet to discuss issue concerning the state,” a senior party leader said.
