UNION MINISTER OF STATE FOR HOME AFFAIRS KIREN RIJIJU SAYS ANGER OF COUNTRYMAN OVER KILLING OF INDIAN SOLDIERS ALONG LOC WAS JUSTIFIED

The government will seal borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh by using “hi-tech physical andnon-physical barrier technology” by 2018, said Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju.

The minister who reached the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at the Attari border on Saturday to inaugurate 103 hi-tech cameras and also unfurl a Tricolour on the 107-foot mast, said the anger of countryman after killing of Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) was justified.

He said Pakistan’s designs to create unrest in Kashmir were being monitored by Indian agencies.

The minister reviewed the security arrangement along the border and also held a closeddoor meeting with the Border Security Force (BSF) officers.

‘FULL-BODY TRUCK SCANNERS SOON’

Rijiju was upset when told that full-body truck scanners were still not installed at the ICP.

While Pakistan has already put the facility in place, checking on the Indian side still depends on hand-held gadgets and human intelligence.

He said the home ministry did everything on its part but due to certain issues between two companies, the installation was delayed.

He said full-body truck scanner would be set up soon as a committee has been formed for the purpose.

The minister also met officials of the Land Ports Authority of India, Customs, and other agencies at the ICP.

He was expressed concerned over dip in trade between India and Pakistan through the ICP.

UNFURLS 107-FT-TALL TRICOLOUR

Unfurling the 107-foot-tall Tricolour at the ICP, Rijiju said the ministry of home affairs would provide funding for the maintenance of the flag.

The Punjab government has also set up country’s tallest 360foot flag post at the Attari border, but the Tricolour is missing since a month as the authorities have failed to find a solution to regular damage to the flag due to strong winds.
