Khattar discusses Amit Shah’s visit with MLAs
CHANDIGARH : The Haryana BJP legislature party meeting on Wednesday evening brought some relief to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar as contrary to apprehension, no dissenting voice was raised by any of the “annoyed” MLAs.
Various issues, including cleanliness drive in 120 big villages and towns from June 5, celebration of centenary birth anniversary of Deen Dayal Upadhayay and party national president Amit Shah’s visit, were discussed at the meeting, chaired by Khattar, in which the state BJP president Subhash Barala and organisational secretary, Suresh Bhatt also spoke.
On the question of dissidence in the party, Umesh Aggarwal, the MLA from Gurugram, who had been among the most vocal in his dissent while interacting with mediapersons held that there was no dissenting voice at the meeting as the situation had improved now. “We had already apprised the national leadership about our grievances and would again raise our viewpoint if required in future,” he said.
It may be recalled that Aggarwal and over a dozen other party MLAs had been complaining against the Khattar’s functioning, saying that their complaints were not addressed. They held that Khattar was under complete control of some bureaucrats and had not been considering demands of their (MLAs') constituencies seriously. The dissidence among the MLAs had also forced the party leadership to cancel the legislature party meeting earlier scheduled for April 3 in New Delhi. Aside from MLAs, chairpersons of several boards and corporations also attended the meet on Wednesday. A few MLAs also looked askance at it.
