90 BOXES OF ILLICIT LIQUOR SEIZED, 6 HELD

Police on Tuesday arrested six persons and recovered 90 boxes containing 1,080 bottles of Haryana-made liquor from their possession.

The accused were identified as Hukam Singh of Sukhpura Maur and Lakhwinder Singh, Sukhveer Singh, Amritpal Singh, Lakhbir Singh and Manpreet Singh, of Cheema village.

SP Surinderpal Singh said, “Offence under Section 61 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914 has been made out against the accused for possessing illicit liquor beyond the permissible limit without any license or permit.”
