Punjab police on Tuesday arrested two gangsters who were wanted in several criminal cases and recovered ₹18.17 lakh from their possession.

According to the police, Gagandeep Singh alias ‘Judge’ was nabbed from the city busstand while he was waiting for his accomplice Varinder Singh alias ‘Ricky’, who was also arrested, to pick him up.

“Following a tip-off, we arrested Ricky, who was coming from Moga towards Ferozepur,” said SSP Ferozepur Gaurav Garg. “We also recovered cash worth Rs 1.67 lakh from his car,” he said.

Judge was wanted in over a dozen criminal cases registered in various police stations while Ricky had earlier been booked in four criminal cases, including the Nabha jail- break incident, police said.

Judge is also considered close to notorious gangster Jaipaul, the main accused in the murder of gangster-turned- politician Jaswinder Singh Rocky who was shot dead in Parwanoo in April last year.

The SSP further revealed that ‘Judge’ was involved in a doublemurder that took place in Ferozepur last year.

Ricky was allegedly involved in hotel and finance businesses and was reportedly acting as conduit to supply vehicles and other utilities to gangsters in Nabha jail-break case.
