PUNJAB GOVT’S SHIFTING PLAN

The Punjab government on Tuesday submitted a plan in the Punjab and Haryana high court to shift students of Gian Sagar Medical College, Banur. The petitioner students are to respond to the plan on May 30. Here are the key points of the plan.

Students will be shifted as per merit attained in qualifying examinatio­n Shifting will be done through counsellin­g by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot Students under government quota will be shifted only to a government college or against government quota seat in a private college Those admitted under the NRI quota will be shifted against the same quota and NRI students admitted without entrance examinatio­n will be shifted on the basis of draw of lots to private colleges only Students will continue to pay government quota fee, if shifted to a private college. If a management quota student is shifted to some other private college, he/she will have to pay the fee he/she was paying earlier Students will not be allowed to migrate to other colleges after this exercise The college where a student is shifted will not be bound to provide hostel facility Supernumer­ary seats will be required for medical courses only and almost all other students of dental, nursing and physiother­apy courses may be adjusted against vacant seats
