The employees union of the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) on Tuesday sat on an indefinite strike in Bhiwani against suspension of two employees over the goof-up in Class 10 board results that were declared by the board on Monday.

Due to a ‘technical glitch’, the board had to withdraw the results hours after declaring a wrong merit list. In an aftermove, the board had suspended two of its employees for negligence and imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh on the software firm for technical faults.

However, the board employees’ union termed the suspension of their two colleagues ‘wrong’ and demanded the chairman to reinstate them immediately.

Union leader Rishi Sharma said the fault in the result was solely due to the software firm and had nothing to do with the board employees, “who have been made the scapegoat to hide the failure in a hurry”.

However, board chairperson Jagbir Singh justified the suspension and called the way of protest by employees wrong. He went on to say that more employees could face the music if their negligence in the result goof-up came to fore in the future.

On Monday, due to a technical glitch, the computer did not count the subject in results in which any student had secured full marks.

This led to the board topper Yudhvir, who scored 100 in four subjects, failing in the initial result declared by the board.
