27,000 central security personnel for Amarnath

Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi on Tuesday reviewed the security arrangements for this year’s Amarnath Yatra that begins on June 29. J&K chief secretary BB Vyas, police chief SP Vaid and officials of the home ministry attended the meeting. According to home ministry officials keeping in view the threat to Yatra from militants and stone pelters, the government will be deploying more than 27,000 security personnel along the route of annual pilgrimage to ensure that all goes peacefully. The Amarnath yatra will conclude on August 7.
