ROHTAK: In a major security lapse, six juvenile undertrials on late Sunday evening managed to escape an observation home on Barwala road in Hisar after attacking amd injuring the on-duty guards.

The police said the juveniles were facing charges of heinous crimes, including murder, and some of their earlier attempts to flee the home were foiled by authorities.

The incident occurred when an employee was opening barracks to provide water campers to inmates after dinner. A juvenile locked in one of the barracks attacked the employee and snatched the keys of other barracks from him.

He then opened the barracks where his other accomplices were locked.

Six of them then headed towards the main gate, where they attacked another security guard with rods and snatched the keys of the main gate.

The police said after fleeing, they tried to rob a car on their way, but damaged it badly after they failed.

Four of them then injured another man and robbed his motorcycle, which they abandoned after riding it for some distance.

Hisar DSP Siddharth Dhanda said they have formed four teams to nab the six juveniles.

“Two of the six juveniles are quiet troublesome. They have more than 10 cases each registered against them,” the DSP said.

The police said there has been negligence on the part of the juvenile home as proper layers of security were not followed. The investigation in the negligence was going on.
