The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a districtlevel protest rally near deputy commissioner’s office on Monday, demanding resignation of Punjab cabinet minister Rana Gurjit Singh, whose former employees allegedly got contracts of sand mines worth ₹2,700 crore.

Presiding over the protest, party’s state president Bhagwant Singh Mann said there was no difference between the previous SAD-BJP regime and the present Congress rule as Punjab was still facing the same problems.

Mann said Akalis and Congress were hand in glove with each other.

The state president alleged that during the SAD government, Akalis and Congress had 60% and 40% share respectively in alleged illegal income and is now vice-versa in the Congress regime.

He added that chief minister (CM) Captain Amarinder Singh’s government has failed to fulfil its promise of waiving off farmers’ loans and debts. Mann regretted that about 70 debt-ridden farmers committed suicide in the two-month Congress regime in state.

He also condemned the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh for deaths of farmers caused by police firing during a peaceful demonstration recently.

Making fun of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Achhe din’ slogan, Mann said the farmers in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were drinking human urine and keeping dead mice in their mouths to protest their plight.

Mann also showed amazement over dharnas by Akalis across the state against the Congress regime on Monday stating that same wrongs were done by the Akalis in 10 years.

Mann thanked Punjabis for making Aam Aadmi Party the main opposition party in the Vidhan Sabha.

The Aam Aadmi Party workers also burnt an effigy of Rana Gurjit Singh.

The rally was also addressed by Joginder Singh Chhina, Gurpartap Singh Khushalpur, Gurinder Singh Shampura, Amarjit Singh Chahal and Kanwalpreet Singh Kaki.

When the SADBJP alliance was in power, the Akalis and Congress had 60 :40 share in alleged illegal income and it is now viceversa in the Captainled Congress regime. BHAGWANT SINGH MANN, AAP state chief
