-

Five teachers fainted after eating breakfast at a residential training camp in Mavli village on Monday.

Around 11 am, five teachers, started vomiting and fainted at Kasturba Gandhi Residential Hostel, where the training camp is being held.

Forty-seven teachers are participating in the 10-day residential training camp.

The other teachers claimed the five fell ill after consuming breakfast, which was of poor quality, at the camp. Their condition worsened and later a team of doctors had to be called in.

The teachers who fell ill were Seema Gupta ,Shankar Lal Salvi, Manjula, Rajendra and Pinki Mochi .

A teacher, who did not want to be named, said, “The meal that was served to us in the morning was half cooked. I refused to eat it. We want a thorough investigation into the matter and proper care of the patients. It’s a matter of concern that such low-quality food materials are being used at government training camps.”

Chunni Lal Ahir, the camp in-charge, however, claimed that the reason why the teachers fell ill is not clear yet.

“All the affected teachers have been attended by the doctors. The mess has been instructed to take care while preparing food. Further action will be taken after the doctors give their report.”

Later, the teachers were referred to Mavli hospital for further treatment.

“As soon as I got information of the mishap, I sent a team to the scene, including the block education officer of Mavli area. The five teachers were shifted to Mavli hospital for further treatment and the situation is under control,” Rashmi Bhargav, district education officer (primary education) told Hindustan Times.
