Soninlaw of speaker involved in sand mining, say Khaira, Bains

-

CHANDIGARH: AAP MLA Sukhpal Khaira and Lok Insaaf Party member Simarjeet Bains on Wednesday alleged that speaker Rana KP Singh’s son-in-law was involved in the mining business in Rupnagar district and “an FIR has been registered against him at the Nangal police station”.

Addressing a press conference, both the MLAs, who have been suspended for the entire session by the speaker, said Dhruv Singh, Rana’s son-in-law, was “kingpin of mining” in Rupnagar district and this was the reason why he suspended them from the assembly.

“It was a conspiracy to suspend both of us on a minor issue. The speaker feared that if there were a debate on the sand mining scam revolving around power minister Rana Gurjit Singh, the name of his son-in-law may also surface in the assembly,” said the MLAs.

“The matter was sub judice as the Punjab and Haryana high court had stayed the particular FIR and has fixed the next date of hearing on July 14. My son-inlaw’s company, GM Constructions, was operating a stone crusher and has permission and registration. My political rival from Anandpur Sahib segment, got the case registered against Dhruv on March 13, 2014,” said Rana. Rana said his son in law moved the high court for quashing the FIR.
