The Gurgaon police on Wednesday issued guidelines to pub/bar owners on MG Road and asked them to ensure the safety of their employees and patrons, particularly women. If they are found lacking, strict action will be taken against them, according to the police.

On their part, the police have decided to increase patrolling on the road, ensure that CCTV cameras are operational and deploy more personnel of the Rapid Action Force (RAF).

A meeting of 40 pub owners was called by DCP (East) Deepak Saharan at his office on Wednesday in which they were asked to ensure that their CCTV cameras are functional and visitor records maintained. They were also asked to ensure that pick up and drop facility is provided to their employees, especially the women, after dark.

“A meeting was held with the pub owners and they were told that if any employee is found out on the street at odd hours or if women employees are not provided a cab, action would be taken against the management,” said Saharan.

Apart from that, Gurgaon police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar said police have also increased security on the Mall Mile and deployed extra force to ensure safety. This comes after a 35-year-old woman was allegedly abducted near MG Road and gang raped in a moving car on Monday.

“The police has identified spots on MG Road and adjacent areas where untoward incidents take place,” said Khirwar.
