An 18-year-old man working as a bus cleaner was found hanging from a high-tension electricity tower in Sector 38 around 3.30pm on Tuesday. A large number of people gathered at the spot, around 800 metres from the busy Medanta hospital, after the body was discovered.

Police identified the victim as Tinku, originally from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh. He was working with Noida’s Vinod bus service as a cleaner in a staff bus that came daily from Faridabad to the hospital.

“The Sadar police station received a call about the suicide around 4pm. The youth had hung himself with a towel from the tower in the Sector 38 green belt. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination on Wednesday,” said Vijay Kumar, SHO, Sadar.

After reaching the spot, the police team shifted the body to the mortuary and it was identified by the family members on Wednesday. Tinku is survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. One of his brothers, Rinku, told police that Tinku remained depressed and aloof from the family. He had arrived in Delhi only a week ago.

On the day of the incident, he had come to Gurgaon along with the staff bus, which remains parked near the hospital.

After dropping the passengers, he left the bus on his own and was later found hanging in the green belt. His family rushed to Gurgaon after they were informed about the incident by the bus driver.
