The Amritsar police claimed to have cracked the theft case in which suspects stole money from the ‘Martyrs’ Well’ of the historical Jallianwal­a Bagh.

ADCP (I) Charanjit Singh said, “We have arrested one person named Gurbhej Singh and recovered ₹2400 from him. The suspect has also named two more people involved with him in the theft execution. The two other accused will be arrested soon.”

The police officials said that the suspect entered the historical town from the rare side of the Jallianwal­a Bagh and went inside the well with the help of a rope. They had cut the grill to enter the place.
