Jail staff on daylong strike to protest pay disparity

JAIPUR/AJMER: Jail staff across 116 prisons in the state went on a day-long hunger strike on Wednesday and wore black arm bands to protest against pay disparity. They also threatened to boycott work if their demands are not met within 15 days. “In comparison of the police force, the jail staff is severely underpaid,” said Wilson Sharma, deputy jailor, Jaipur central jail.
