Jalandhar DC: Put names of registered travel agents on portal

-

JALANDHAR: Deputy commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday, asked the concerned authorities to upload names of 240 registered travel agents on the official website of the district administration.

Sharma said the order was given in view of cases of duping innocent people by unauthorised travel agents, which was bringing a bad name to the country.

He said that in order to check this frivolous practice, the state government has asked the district administration to prepare a list of the registered travel agents after calling applications from the concerned quarters.

The DC said after scrutiny of applications, the administration has finalised 240 names, who have been registered as travel agents, ticketing agents and consultancy firms.

Sharma said the names of these registered travel agents would be uploaded on the official website of the administration, jalandhar.nic.in. He said the people should visit the website and contact the registered travel agents only for going abroad.

Sharma exhorted the people to visit the website for getting details of the travel agents who have been registered by the district administration. He pointed out that after this, any person visiting unauthorised agent would do so at their own risk.
