Protests erupt demanding CBI probe, 15 arrested

BIKANER : Protests have erupted in many parts of western Rajasthan demanding CBI probe into gangster Anandpal Singh’s encounter.

The police arrested over a dozen protesters trying to block National High-11 near Payali village of Rajaldesar police station on Bikaner-Jaipur highway.

Arvind Kumar, station house officer, Ratangarh police station said that some protesters were trying to block the highway, but the police pushed them back. The police detained around 15 persons who were trying to pelt stones at the vehicles.

Meanwhile, the sub-divisional magistrate on Tuesday evening imposed prohibitor­y orders under section 144 in Ratangarh subdivisio­n of Churu district to deal with protests and law and order issues.

The inquiry officer (IO) and circle officer of Ratangarh police circle has issued notices to Anandpal Singh’s wife, mother and other family members for cremation of his body under Rajasthan police rules. Yogendra Foujdar, the additional superinten­dent of police, Sujangarh, said that 24 hours after the notice has been issued, the police will have the power to cremate the deceased.

MAN ARRESTED FOR FACEBOOK POST GRANTED BAIL

A 28-year old man, who was arrested on Monday for a Facebook post on deceased gangster Anandpal Singh, was granted bail on Tuesday.

Virendra Kumar of Kudi village in Jodhpur had late evening on Saturday made a general post on Facebook. The same night Anandpal was shot dead in a police encounter in Malasar village of Churu.

Kumar on Sunday edited his post and wrote that Anandpal will be shot down shortly. “He must have done it to give the impression that he knew about the encounter,” said Rajiv Bhadu, Bhopalgarh SHO.
