Miguel Portugal to take over as Delhi Dynamos coach
NEWDELHI:The new season of the Indian Super League (ISL) will not begin for a few months, but Delhi Dynamos have already found their replacement for former manager, Italian Gianluca Zambrotta.
Former Real Madrid player Miguel Angel Portugal is all set to be announced as the new manager of the Delhi-based franchise, according to reports quoting the Spaniard himself.
“Yes, I’m in contact with Delhi Dynamos. I will be signing the contract in the next 2-3 days,” Miguel Portugal, a former midfielder, told goal.com.
Delhi Dynamos have yet to win the ISL, with their best showing coming last season, third year of the league, when they made the semi-finals.
Miguel Portugal, 61, played for numerous clubs in Spain but is best known for his time at Real Madrid from 1979-83, where he won multiple trophies. The other notable sides he played for are Cordoba, Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid.
