Miguel Portugal to take over as Delhi Dynamos coach

NEWDELHI:The new season of the Indian Super League (ISL) will not begin for a few months, but Delhi Dynamos have already found their replacemen­t for former manager, Italian Gianluca Zambrotta.

Former Real Madrid player Miguel Angel Portugal is all set to be announced as the new manager of the Delhi-based franchise, according to reports quoting the Spaniard himself.

“Yes, I’m in contact with Delhi Dynamos. I will be signing the contract in the next 2-3 days,” Miguel Portugal, a former midfielder, told goal.com.

Delhi Dynamos have yet to win the ISL, with their best showing coming last season, third year of the league, when they made the semi-finals.

Miguel Portugal, 61, played for numerous clubs in Spain but is best known for his time at Real Madrid from 1979-83, where he won multiple trophies. The other notable sides he played for are Cordoba, Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid.
