3 minor siblings drown in a pit in Kapurthala

In a tragic incident, three minor children drowned to death after falling into a pit at Alodhipur village in Kapurthala district on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Raju ,11, Gori ,7, and Shoba ,3, children of a migrated family.

As per informatio­n, Joginder, father of the deceased with his wife Khero were working in a field when their three children came to the fields to deliver lunch to them.

“When they return back to home after giving food to parents, decided to return from fields to shorten the distance.

“The children while returning from the field failed to notice a pit near a brick kiln and fell in it,” said deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP) Gurmeet Singh said. “Labourers working in the nearby fields rushed for their help but could not save them.The doctors declared them as brought dead at the civil hospital,” the DSP said.

DSP said that the family had come to Punjab recently to find employment. The family had four children and were living on the outskirts of the village.

Meanwhile, police have handed over the bodies after conducting post-mortem and a case was registered under 174 Section of CrPC.
