The announcement ended any doubts after the former India skipper had sought clarifications from the Board following questions of conflict of interest raised by outgoing member of the Committee of Administrators (CoA), Ramachandra Guha.

Delhi Daredevils, in a statement, said Dravid will no longer be the IPL team’s mentor, Guha having raised the issue of the BCCI giving 10-month contracts to allow the IPL role to the former India batsma.

A Daredevils statement said: “We’re sad that he will not continue with us as mentor as he chooses to serve India A and India under-19 as coach,” acknowledging Dravid’s contribution for two years.

“Over the last two years, Rahul Dravid has been instrumental in getting young talent into the mix, who have proved their worth on the big stage,” BCCI acting president CK Khanna said in a statement.

“We are glad to continue his services for the next two years and are sure that this is a bright sign for Indian cricket which will see many more young talents coming up.”
