HUBBY STABS WOMAN IN JIND
Victim, resident of Jind village, was attacked by her husband with a saw on suspicion of illicit relationship; accused fled as neighbours gathered, later arrested
Another shameful incident highlighting lack of empathy among people has been reported from Haryana’s Jind district, where a woman attacked by her husband with a saw kept crying in pain, but no one came to lend her a helping hand.
Instead, her neighbours were busy shooting her video, which has now gone viral on social media. The video shows the bleeding woman, shouting and crying in pain.
The victim has been identified as Sanju, a resident of a Baroli village in Safidon subdivision. She was stabbed with a woodcutter (aari) in her stomach, shoulder and knee by her husband Naresh, allegedly on suspicion of an illicit relationship.
The police said the incident took place on the evening of June 30 when Naresh came back home drunk and threw chilli powder in his wife’s eyes. He then attacked her with a two-ft woodcutter. When she started crying in pain, the neighbours gathered at her house and he fled the spot, warning to kill her “whenever he finds another chance”.
Investigation officer (IO) subinspector Ram Mehar said he received a call after the woman was stabbed. “I rushed to the village on my bike and saw the woman crying in pain. A neighbour was shooting her video when I reached. I asked him to stop making video and rather call an ambulance,” he said.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, which referred her to the medical college hospital at Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat. She is now in stable condition and has been discharged.
“The accused has been arrested and booked under Sections 323, 324 and 506 of the IPC. The weapon used in the crime has been recovered. He was produced in a court and remanded in police custody,” the IO said.
The police said the couple has three school going children — two girls and one boy. The woman had lodged a complaint against her husband for mistreating her earlier also and he was then given counselling.
