BJP STATE UNIT VICEPRESIDENT BOOKED FOR ~10LAKH FRAUD
TARNTARAN: Tarn Taran police on Friday booked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state vice-president Sarabjit Kaur Bath for fraud.
Bath, who is also a former chairman of the Improvement Trust, Tarn Taran, allegedly took ₹10 lakh from a resident of Nanaksar locality on the pretext of selling him a house.
According to sources, the matter was highlighted last year, during the tenure of SAD-BJP government in the state but the police failed to take any action against the accused because of political pressure and despite repeated complaints of the complainant, Saroop Singh.
Saroop said, “I complained to city police on July 25, 2016, that Sarabjit had taken Rs 10 lakhs from me because she wanted to sell a house in the city but after taking money she refused to get the house registered in my name.”
“I also implored her to give my money back but she did not pay any heed,” said Saroop Singh.
Last year, BJP before assembly polls nominated Sarabjit Kaur Bath as a chairman of Improvement Trust in Tarn Taran but the party’s district president Navreet Singh Safipur along with other senior members of BJP leadership of the district opposed the move and alleged that she is involved in a fraud case.
Sarabjit Kaur said, “The police have registered a case against me as a political vendetta and I didn’t do any cheating with Saroop Singh.”
An FIR has been registered against her under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
