HISAR: Upset over quarrels with her husband, a 35-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her two daughters before consuming the substance herself at Dhanakhurd village in Hansi sub-division of Hisar district on Saturday night.

While Nirmala Devi (35) and her daughter Nitu Rani (13) died on the way to hospital, her elder daughter Rekha (15) is in critical condition. Hansi superintendent of police (SP) Pratiksha Godara said they have started investigation into the matter. No suicide note was found till filing of the news.

Sadar station house officer (SHO) Uday Bhan, who is also investigating officer in the case, said, “We came to know that Nirmala’s husband Dayaram alias Virender Singh thrashed her and their daughters every day. On Saturday, he locked them inside and left. This could have been the trigger behind suicide.”

“Police have sent the bodies to the Hansi general hospital for autopsy. We have also informed their family members,” the SHO said.

A similar case had came to light in Tohana sub-division of Fatehabad district where a 30-year-old man had consumed poisonous substance on Friday with his three-year-old daughter Mahima and six-year-old son Ganesh over regular quarrels with his wife.
