Armed men loot courier supplier in Tarn Taran

TARN TARAN Two armed robbers looted a Flipkart courier man, who was out to deliver items to customers, on the Kulla road in the Patti sub-division on Saturday.The robbers took away courier packs, which contained profession­al still cameras worth almost ₹1 lakh, and ₹50,000 in cash from the courier supplier.

“I was going to deliver a packet to one Harmanpree­t Singh. But Harmanpree­t rang me up and asked me to deliver the packet at a particular palace on the Kulla road. I met him on the road and delivered the packet to him. But instead of making the payment, he (Harmanpree­t), who was accompanie­d by one of his friends, brought out a gun and put it on my head and asked me to hand over the cash I had with me,” said victim Tejinder Singh of Patti.

“I panicked and handed over two parcels containing two camera s cameras worth ₹1 lakh to him,” he said.

He said that they also took away ₹ 50,000 from him, which he had collected by delivering couriers to various customers.

The police were informed of the incident and they immediatel­y reached the spot and started investigat­ion.

“We are examining the recordings of CCTV cameras installed at various locations. The accused will soon be arrested,” investigat­ing officer assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Santokh Singh said.
