FINAL’S KEY BATTLES

With all to play for, HT looks at five key players for India and England who might help their side come out on top at Lord’s in the final

-

Sarah Taylor v Jhulan Goswami

While Jhulan (right), the highest wicket-taker in women’s ODI cricket, has seven wickets from eight games, her economy rate of 4.48 has helped India contain rivals. Jhulan will want to get rid of Sarah cheaply as she has been in fine form with 351 runs, including a century.

Deepti Sharma v Natalie Sciver

In eight matches, Natalie (right) has two centuries — the most in the tournament, but has failed to cross 30 in the others. Deepti, the highest wicket-taker for her side with 12 wickets, will be aware that she will need to give crucial breakthroughs.

Mithali Raj v Alex Hartley

Alex’s (right) consistency has been the key for England. She has eight wickets but her economy rate of 4.12 has created pressure. Mithali is 12 runs short of overtaking Ellyse Perry as the tournament’s highest run-scorer but will need a bigger knock on Sunday.

Heather Knight v Ekta Bisht

With eight wickets and 363 runs, skipper Heather (left) has led from the front. England have three of the top-five highest run-getters in the tournament, and Ekta will play a role as she has the ability to turn the ball away from right-handers. She’s picked up nine wickets.

Tammy Beaumont v Poonam Yadav

Tammy (left) is the third-highest run-getter in the tournament and looks good for another big score. Poonam has been consistent too, picking up wickets in all matches, except against Pakistan. Her ODI economy rate of 3.46 could find her a place in the side.
