FEAR IS NOT A BAD FEELING AS IT SPURS PEOPLE TO DO THEIR BEST
There is a strong connection between fear and concentration. Generally we tend to consider fear to be a bad feeling and a symbol of cowardice. People feel ashamed to share their experiences of fear. This is wrong. We should understand the true nature of fear.
Fear is a natural feeling. We feel happy when something good happens, sad when something bad happens, but fear is the emotion one experiences when it feels that something not quite right might happen.
This way, fear works like an alarm, which alerts us to what might be an upcoming danger. When fear rises in our minds, concentration levels spike in order to try and prevent the mishap. Deep concentration compels us to work hard, which leads to positive results.
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali once admitted that he felt fear whenever he stepped into the boxing ring and this fear always helped him concentrate on the fight, and win. This is why a new driver drives with more concentration than an experienced one; because of the fear of accidents. Students also become more serious during examinations and try their best to pass it. It is fear which increases the level of concentration to achieve the best results.
So how can we consider fear to be a bad feeling? Whenever you feel afraid, take it as a message from nature which alerts you to an upcoming problem. In this way, fear plays a friendly role to solve our problems. This is the positive side of the fear. Inner Voice comprises contributions from our readers. The views expressed are personal
