SHIMLA: In a bid to quell intensified factional feud in ruling Congress, party’s veteran leader and All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Himachal affairs Sushil Kumar Shinde clamped gag orders on leaders, as CMVirbhadra Singh insisted upon organisational elections.
Shinde, former Maharashtra CM, arrived in Shimla on Wednesday.
On Thursday, he sent a strong signal down the line that indiscipline of any sort will not be tolerated.
His message was loud and clear that no one in state was above party.
Shinde’s stern comments came a day after Virbhadra’s supporters raised slogans against state party chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Sukhu has already directed the party general secretary to initiate disciplinary action against those indulging in indiscipline.
Shinde, along with AICC secretary and two-time Lok Sabha member Ranjit Ranjan called on party leaders to unite and work dedicatedly for what they termed as ‘Mission Repeat’.
In wake of increasing infighting, Shinde said, “No one should discuss or reveal party-related matters in press.”
Both Virbhadra and Sukhu had made statements in public countering each other.
