Two brothers shot dead in Hisar locality, 5 arrested

HISAR:Some armed men shot two brothers dead in Valmiki Mohalla locality of the city late Thursday night, prompting the local administra­tion to deploy heavy police force to maintain law and order in the area.

Police have arrested five men in this connection.

The victims Sachin Kumar (28) and his younger brother Sunil Kumar (24) were from the same locality. Vinod Kumar, who received bullet injury, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.

Police have arrested accused Shankar, Praveen, Abhishek, Chhotta Shankar and Vikki alias Bori. A case under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act has been registered against Shankar, Parveen and unidentifi­ed persons. Shankar was produced in a local court on Friday.

Police took the bodies in their custody and sent them for postmortem examinatio­n at the civil hospital, Hisar. The bodies were handed over to the victims’ families on Friday.

Post-mortem report suggested that the two brothers died after bullets pierced through their bellies.

The police said Vinod was playing cards with some of his friends and Shankar. A verbal spat ensued between Shankar and him and he called Sachin and Sunil. After sighting Sachin and Sunil, Shankar fled from there. The three chased him till his house. Shankar, his friend Praveen and some unidentifi­ed men opened fire on them from the rooftop of Shankar's house in which the three got badly injured.

Nearby residents rushed them to the civil hospital where doctors declared Sachin brought dead. Sunil was referred to a private hospital but he too died on the way. Most of them ran meat shop. City police station house officer (SHO) Mandeep Sangwan station said, “There are a total of 13 cases registered against Shankar. the cases involve carrying arms, attempt to murder, dacoity, criminal intimidati­on and criminal conspiracy. Shankar was out on bail.”
