FARIDKOT: Deposing before a local court during the hearing in the Behbal Kalan police firing case on Saturday, father of one of the two victims accused two more cops for firing at the victims.

Mahinder Singh, father of Krishan Bhagwan, claimed that inspector general (IG) of police Paramraj Singh Umranangal and inspector Pradeep Singh, who was then posted at Moga as reader to the SSP, also fired bullets.

Earlier, kin of the deceased had accused three senior cops, including an SSP, SP and an SHO for firing at the protesters.

Krishan Bhagwan of Behbal Khurd and Gurjeet Singh Bittu of Sarawan village had died after allegedly being shot by cops.

In February, Krishan’s brother Resham Singh filed a complaint against three senior cops, alleging that they fired on people protesting against a sacrilege incident in October 2015.

Resham had appealed in court to summon the three cops to face trial as accused in the case.

Meanwhile Prabhjit Singh, 20, son of Krishan Bhagwan, had told the court of judicial magistrate (first class) Shweta Dass that villagers were peacefully protesting against sacrilege incidents.

Prabhjit maintained that he was also present at the spot during the protest. He claimed that three senior cops, including SSP Charanjit Sharma, SP Bikramjit Singh and SHO Amarjit Singh, shot at the protesters.

Advocate Amit Mittal, counsel of Resham Singh, said: “Mahinder Singh accused two more cops of firing at public. Five out of total eight witnesses have deposed before the court so far and now we may produce other injured victims during next hearing”.
