Varsities to have new accreditation format
THIRD PARTY VALIDATION OF DATA HAS BEEN INTRODUCED AND APPROPRIATE DIFFERENCES IN METRICS, BENCHMARKS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED
NEW DELHI: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has revamped its accreditation framework for colleges and universities.
The introduction of a Student Satisfaction Survey (SSS), onsite assessment, peer review by visiting teams, data validation and verification (DVV) and introducing system generated scores (SGS) are some of the major features of the revised framework. The revision that became operational in July 2017, is Information Communication Technology enabled, objective, transparent, scalable and robust, officials said.
“The new framework is a subtle combination of system generated scores (SGS) with a combination of online evaluation (70%) and peer evaluation (30%) which would usher in a high level of transparency,” said an official. In the revised system, third party validation of data has been introduced and appropriate differences in metrics, weightage and benchmarks have been provided to universities, autonomous colleges and affiliated/constituent colleges.
“The most significant point of the new framework is revising several metrics to bring in enhanced participation of students and alumni in the assessment process.
