KARNAL: In the wake of the attack on its national president Yashpal Malik at a rally in Fatehabad last month, the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) is working hard to make the September 3 rally in Jhajjar a success.

AIJASS members are touring villages across the districts to ensure large gathering at the rally and inviting leaders of all communities to put a united face to counter the criticism of the violence during the Jat agitation last year.

“Efforts are being made to ensure the presence of all 36 communities at the ‘Bhaichara Rally’ (brotherhood rally). Leaders of all communities will share the dais and will address the gathering. It will send a message to those who were misleading people against Jats,” said Yashpal Malik.

About the differences among khap leaders, he said, “Those speaking against the AIJASS and projecting themselves as khap leaders do not have any base in Haryana. They are playing into the hands of others.” Following reports of growing differences within leaders and representatives of khap panchayats, the AIJASS has also invited khap leaders to the rally, in which Malik might be may project himself as the tallest Jat leader in the state.

Also, AIJASS leaders are working hard to prevent Sube Singh Samain from uniting khap leaders against Malik and are demanding his arrest for attacking Malik. “If the police fail to make arrest for attack, this raises a question mark over the working of the police and the government. This issue will also be discussed in the rally,” Malik said. Samain accused Malik of making money in the name Jat agitation. “We are asking him (Malik) for details of expenditure and collection of donation, but he is trying to divert people’s attention,” he said.
