KARNAL: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said the government will follow the Punjab and Haryana high court’s directions to conduct search operation inside the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa following the sentencing of the sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

“The high court and the government are working together on this. We will send the police and army inside the dera if the court orders to conduct a search inside the dera,” the chief minister said replying to a question as why the police and army were not allowed to enter inside the dera.

“Also, the search will be conducted under the directions of a judicial magistrate appointed by the high court. For this, the government has already approached the court and the decision is likely on Monday", he added.

On whether he was satisfied with the working of the police in the dera episode, he said, “The priority of the police was to bring him to the court so that the Rampal episode was not repeated. The police did their job responsibly.” Replying to the claims by the police officers that the dera head was planning to escape police custody after the court verdict on August 25, he said, “Saying anything about it will be premature. We need find out more facts on this.”

He skipped questions whether the party high command was satisfied with his working as he met BJP president Amit Shah recently. “The party high command can give better answer on this." Over the Jat reservation issue, he said the ball was not in the government’s court and it is the Backward Classes Commission which will submit its survey report to the high court. He refuted the reports of contesting next election from Gurgaon.
