10 burglars in Amritsar police net, 17 bikes recovered

AMRITSAR: The city police claimed to have arrested as many 10 robbers including bike lifters, thieves and snatchers from difference places in the city on Wednesday.

In total, the police officials recovered 17 bikes and three mobiles from the accused person’s possession.

The accused persons have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, Gurpartap Singh and Love Kumar, all from Patti in Tarn Taran district.

The three accused were arrested near Lohgarh gate by a team of Criminal Investigat­ion Agency (CIA) on Friday, said Jagmohan Singh, deputy commission­er of police (investigat­ion) in a press conference.

He was accopanied by CIA staff in-charge Joga Singh.

As many as 14 lifted bikes were recovered. “These thieves used to sell the lifted bikes illegally”, said the police official. He said, “A case has been registered against the trio in police station (D- division).”

In a separate conference, additional deputy commission­er of police (ADCP-2) Lakhbir Singh said, “As many as seven thieves and snatchers have been nabbed from different places falling in Chheherta police station.”

The arrested are Manpreet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Jaspal Singh (residents of Waryam Nangal village), Ajay Kumar, Inderjit Singh, of Fateh Singh Colony, Vikram of Boparai village and Jasbir Singh of Bhaini village.
