Ludhiana Ryan teachers accused of thrashing Class4 boy, school denies charge
LUDHIANA: Parents of a Class 4 student of Ryan International School, Jamalpur, in Ludhiana have accused two sports teachers of thrashing their son on the school premises on Thursday. School principal has, however, denied the charge and said the parents were raking up the issue as their son has been suspended for indiscipline.
Parents of 10-year-old Mansukh Singh have also lodged a complaint at the Jamalpur police station against the school authorities.
According to reports, Mansukh and his classmate, Nitin Kapoor, got into a scuffle on the school premises on Wednesday and Nitin received injuries when he was allegedly pushed by to the ground.
The school authorities summoned parents of both the students and Mansukh’s father Jaswinder Singh said they had apologised to Nitin and his parents and that the matter was sorted out.
Jaswinder alleged that when Munsukh went to school on Thursday, the teachers asked him to call his parents.
“I could not go to the school as was busy. One of the teachers caught hold of my son while the other started beating him up with sticks. There are injury marks on his back and we have also got his medical examination done,” he alleged.
Denying the allegation, principal Gurpal Kaur Anand said Mansukh was suspended for a month after Wednesday’s incident as they had to take disciplinary action against him.
“We had called his parents to school to hand them the suspension letter. The student was not even touched by the teacher and all the allegations are baseless,” she said.
