ED to probe money spent on Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s films
CHANDIGARH The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started its initial investigation against the Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda for allegedly violating the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Sources in the ED said the amount spent on dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s films will be probed. The ED started the investigation on Thursday on the Punjab and Haryana high court’s directions issued a day before. The ED will also investigate the foreign funding received by the dera chief.
In its investigation, the ED is likely to question the self-proclaimed godman, who has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after he was convicted in two rape cases.
The dera’s chartered accountant and Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, will also be questioned i this connection.
Earlier in the day, a Dera Sacha Sauda follower, Ramchandra, was arrested by the Haryana Police for instigating violence in Panchkula after Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s conviction by a special Central Bureau of Investigation court on August 25.
