Four of J&K judge’s staff die in car crash

Four staff members, including two CRPF jawans of a sitting judge, justice MK Hanjura, of J&K high court died when their SUV veered off the road and plunged into a 200-metre deep gorge near Marog in Ramban district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as, driver Vinod Kumar of Muthi Domana in Jammu, cook Hukum Chand of Ramnagar in Udhampur, CRPF jawans Ajeet Singh and Sunil Kumar, both from Uttar Pradesh.

While Vinod Kumar, Hukum Chand and CRPF jawan Sunil Kumar died in Ramban hospital, grievously injured CRPF jawan Ajeet Singh who was airlifted to Jammu, died en route, said Ramban SSP, Mohan Lal.

Justice Hanjura was not travelling in the car. The SSP said that SUV Toyota Fortuner skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. Quick reaction teams, police SDRF teams and locals carried out the rescue operation, he added.

He said the vehicle was headed to Jammu from Srinagar.
